Thank You Notes
We receive many thank you notes from recipients of Project Linus blankets so we thought it would be nice to share them with our readers. Most of the thank yous are forwarded on to the maker of the blanket, but sometimes we do not have a contact address for the blanketeer who the thank you is addressed to. The following includes those thank yous that we are unable to forward.
Dear Roberta Davis,
My name is Jan Cider and I
am a therapist for children at Doernbechers Childrens Hospital. I
worked with a two year old child who died of a near drowning. The
mother and father were given your quilt for a keepsake. It was
on the childs bed when he died.
I thought you might like to know how much your gift was a blessing to
this family.
Thank you so much for your kindness.
Sincerely,
Jan Crider
Just a note to thank you once again for your blanket project. We receive
many blankets here at Doernbechers but none as lovely as yours. We save your
blankets for the children and adults who are dying - they become the families
last keepsake and help the children so much because they get to pick out
the blanket and place it on the bed of their loved one. The families
and medical staff are touched because of your work and your blankets. Thank
you so much.

Dear Ronda,
Thank you so much for the blankets
you make for Project Linus. I work in the intensive care units
of Doernbecher and OHSU. I recently let two children pick out a
quilt for their Daddy who was dying and they chose yours. Thank
you so much for your gift to this family.
Sincerely,
Jan Crider
Dear Ms. Oakes,
Thank you for the beautiful
blanket you made, which was given to my daugher during our stay at the
Ronald McDonald House in Portland. We love the design and the stitchery
and especially the polar bears. She uses it in the evening at home
while she watches videos on the sofa. Thank you again for your
generosity and care of people you have never even met.
Sincerely,
Karen
Dear Project Linus,
When my 2 year old daughter
was diagnosed with leukemia, the first thing we were given when we walked
into Doernbecher was a beautiful quilt. Please thank the dear people
who give of their time and kindness, and for expressing their care for
sick children.
Sincerely,
Kim
Dear Gramma Doris-
I want to thank you for your
blanket.
My daughter Taylor will cherish it. We sure did smile and know
that you put your love into making it. Having comfort and a hug
sure does make tough times easier! From the bottom of my heart,
I thank you again for caring for us in our time of need.
Love,
Dustin, Heather and Taylor
To all the caring people at Project Linus-
Our 14 year old daughter recently
spent two days at Emanuel Hospital and while there she was given one
of your adorable handmade blankets. She was feeling pretty "down" about
being there, but the bright, colorful, cozy and warm blanket cheered
her up so much! She just couldn't believe it was actually for her
(she thought they would just wash it and use it for the next person in
the room!) Deepest appreciation to all of you and the caring and
wonderful work you do. It truly does make such a difference!
With warmest
wishes,
The Kaynor family
The beautiful quilt made our infant daughters
stay a lot more comfortable for all of us. We are grateful for
your generosity. It makes all the difference in the world. She
was at Legacy Emanuel for open heart surgery when she was 15 weeks old.
She is thriving!
Thank you from the bottom of
my new and improved heart!
Love,
Brevyn Shae, Brian and Amy
Dear Project Linus,
Many many thanks for all the
beautiful handmade blankets you have been so generously sending us. The
families we serve are very low income and uninsured and they certainly
need something beautiful to swaddle their bundle of joy. Your work is
very special and deeply appreciated.

My family and I are victims of Hurrican Katrina. We
evacuated to Katy, TX where my 7 year old participated in the Katrina
Kids Group sponsored by the Odessa Kilpatrick Elementary School.
The kids were provided counseling to help understand and deal with this
tragedy.
Upon completion of the group sessions, Madison was presented with your
beautiful quilt. We just wanted to extend to you a great big thank
you. Thank you for your thoughtfulness during our time of need. I
know Madison will cherish this for many years to come. If we ever
have to evacuate again (let's hope not) this will surely be one item
placed in our suitcase.
Thanks again,
Gail Rousseve
Just a thank you note! Six of us were
in a car crash, one fatality, and two kids flown to OHSU. I couldn't
get to my 9 year old for 1 1/2 days. She was scared to death without
me.
Weather prevented my arrival in the storm of 12/18/05, and when I arrived
I was glad to see her being comforted by your quilt! You see, my
aunt is a quilter and Tabitha has quilts on her bed at home. We
lost two of the quilts the kids had taken for the trip in the wreck.
She so loves her quilt. You made a BIG difference, thank you!
Mom
Dear Volunteers,
My 7 year old son recently
was an inpatient at Emanuel Hospital. He received a fleece blanket
donated by your organization and loves it! He now calls it his "lucky
blanket."
Thanks for making his time warmer!
Much aloha & mahalo,
The Kamaka'ala family
